Gradually over the winter the membership built up and Lancers and the new show started to evolve "To Boldly Go" a name chosen to reflect not only the sci fi space theme, but also the brave steps being taken in building a new future for the band.
The Corps once again focussed soley on BYBA competitons with DCUK leaning more to open age units it was felt that there was no longer any place for Lancers in its membership structure.
The result was hugeley successful season in with the Corps having some great results, lots of fun and enjoyable friendly rivalry with all our fellow bands in our Division we finished in 3rd place in the league.
BYBA Finals day dawned to the worst weather you could possbly have on a Finals day torrential rain, our rehearsal in the morning was completely washed out and by the time we arrived at Crewe FC the Finals venue the start had already been delayed and there was a serious chance that it would not take place at all. Fortunatley the rain gradually eased and BYBA and Crewe FC officials worked hard together to get the show on, the decisions made though not ideal for a Finals performance at least gave the members the chance to perform and what a great job they did. Such a good job that they very nearly got Runners Up closing a gap of 100 points from semi Finals to under 20 taking 3rd spot announced with all the bands in the stand due to the bad weather, creating a fantastic atmosphere.
Another highlight of the year was when Lancers got booked to take part in McDonalds "Great tastes of America" commercial which was film down in Lambeth, London. Due to filming regulations we had to put out a band of members that were 16 years upwards and that encouraged alot of our Alumni to join us for the day. The advert went out and ran for 6 weeks during the summer.
2010 not only celebrated the 15th aniversary season of the band but also helped put Lancers back on track to take the Corps foward into the future and the start of a new era.........
