07 Jul 08 - Lancers Top at Somer Sounds Contest

Lancers next show of the 2008 season came along on Sunday 6th July down Bristol way at the BYBA Somer Sounds Contest.

The weather forecast all week had been looking dodgy to say the least, indeed the weather this year has been playing major havoc with rehearsal and it felt as if we were not making much progress at all because of it!

Anyway as it turned out the weather was to play havoc with the show and for the first time in many years actually brought it to a stop at the beginning of Division Two. We had to feel for all the units that had travelled down to the show only to get washed out. Fortunately for us and all of our large class the heavens didn’t open til after it was completed and we were able to perform.

The performance itself went off ok and was definitely cleaner than the previous show but everyone felt that it lacked a bit of energy and drive. Despite this Lancers were announced as Champions on the day winning Ensemble Music, Field Wind & Field Percussion Captions gaining a total score of 62.22
