16 Jun 08 - Positive Start for Lancers in Leeds

Saturday 14th June 08 saw Stafford Lancers marking their first appearence at the "BYBA Northern Star Contest" for four years and the start to the 2008 British Youth Band Association Contesting season by finishing a close Runners Up.

Lancers had a number of members making their debut performance; Alex Farraguia, Jamie Hornsey & Toni Bailey on Brass. Ben Burgin & Adam Renshaw on Drums plus Hannah James, Zoe Reid & Bobbie Yapp on Guard. We really hope you enjoyed the experience of your first competition.

In addition to completely new rookies this show also had a number of members that had moved sections and instruments a challenge in it own right they were: Helen Brearly (Mellophone), Rosie Barrett (baritone), Dan Bird (snare), Luke McFall (snare), Katie Roberts (tenors), Sian Mace (bass drum), Coral Hall (guard). Well done.

Finally we were proud to have back in our ranks James Barrett (brass) plus Aimee Sewell & Rachael Goudman (guard).

Lancers won a number of sections including, Field Brass, Field Visual, Colour Guard & Ensemble Music and posted an opening score for the season of 56.94
