10 Oct 07 - Lancers Crowned - 2007 BRITISH CHAMPIONS

Stafford Lancers have won the British Youth Band Association (BYBA) Division 3 National Finals to be crowned "British Champions" with a score of 81.0.

After a season long series of competitions Lancers who had already won the league title went into the National Championship Finals as number one seeds to compete against 9 other bands that had also qualified for the Finals.

An army of supporters travelled down to the Butts Park Arena in Coventry to join a large crowd. They was not to be disapointed as The Lancers performed their "Fiddler on the Roof" in spectacular style to an appreciative audience.

The tension then built as the awards were announced with the Lancers taking, Best Musical Effect, Visual Effect, Percussion & Colour Guard with the Brass missing out on taking their section too by a fraction.

In the end the tension was broken as the Corps was announced as Champions with a score of 810 out of a 1000 (81.0) which was enough to hold off the challenge of some fine bands.

The Corps then marched off the arena though a a guard of honour from all the other bands lining up and clapping, which we really appreciated!

This was then followed by a Champions repeat performance back on the arena, which was just fantastic final performance of our 2007 show where everyone just left it out on the field.

Corps Director Dave Milton said "I am extremely proud of our members, its been a great year for the Corps and to round it off as British Champions of our Class at Finals is just wonderful for all involved!"
