After much research, Stafford was chosen as the town to launch the Corps.

It was felt that due to it's location, population and the fact that it did not have an independent youth band the potential was enormous.

After much arm twisting the initial staff structure was put into place, but as yet we had no instruments. Money was donated by the staff and second hand instruments and equipment were acquired with the help of more established bands - to those friends we offer our sincere thanks.Eventually after many knock backs a local Methodist Church agreed to let us use their premises for six weeks on trial basis, free of charge, to see if we could get it off the ground.

After an intense marketing campaign in the local press, the Band held an open night on Thursday 8th June 1995, and to our surprise quite a few kids turned up.

ONE WEEK LATER... twelve came back, none could play a note or wave a flag and we were a little disappointed. However, if you have twelve kids, you have a band and things can only grow and develop from there.

Our first ever tune was the monster hit, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and it stank, but we were proud of them and so were the kids and their parents.

Five months later, we gave our first public performance in Stafford Shopping Centre playing Christmas Carols and we raised about £70!

Interest in the band grew throughout the year, and more and more members joined.
